Leave ‘em to Dumb and Dumber – 6/52 Ways to Stop Pedophiles

February 6, 2013

It’s a common phrase that criminals are usually caught for two reasons – they are dumb or unlucky.

Even Jay Leno seems to laugh longer when he shows Headlines of stupid criminals.

Perhaps Leno will be flashing a newspaper story about a young couple, Dumb and Dumber, who thought they had a perfect plan for stopping pedophiles. They expected to make some easy money, and start a family by kidnapping (saving) a child from their pedophile parent.

A concerned citizen contacted police on January 22, about someone claiming to be a 15-year-old girl and advertising on the internet to sell sex. The police quickly secured a phone number and high school photo of Sareena Morrison, 18. In a series of conversations and text exchanges, Morrison and her partner in crime Dustin Canup, 20, agreed to meet a man and his six-year-old daughter for sex.

Canup and Morrison were arrested on January 25, in Loveland, CO, when they arrived at a motel room rented by an undercover investigator.

In another dumb move, they waived their Miranda rights, claiming they never intended to have sex. They schemed to take the pedophile’s money, and his child to raise as their own. They said they planned to threaten the man with calling the police if he didn’t cooperate. Canup brought along a knife and handcuffs in case the man didn’t agree with their demands.

There may be a real pedophile in this story. The investigator wasn’t buying sex or selling his daughter, but the couple had another appointment later the same day to meet an Englewood man who promised $650 to have sex with the supposed 15-year-old Morrison.

Great work by the Loveland Police Department, and thanks to the web-watcher who made a report. They created a trap for the young criminals. Maybe pedophiles who have been looking forward to sex with Morrison will be captured through evidence now in the hands of law enforcement.

Real pedophiles are lucky that they won’t actually meet Dumb and Dumber. But, they may meet someone just as dangerous.

Robbers targeting Pedophiles is actually kinda rare nowadays

Good to hear from you, Ryan. Yes, reports of someone robbing a pedophile are rare – who would admit being taken in by such a con? There’s nothing new about a sting that targets another law-breaker. The life of an active pedophile can be dangerous.

Haha true. Now all we need is a serial killer going after them 😉
